“We encouraged, comforted, and implored each one of you to walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.”-1 Thessalonians 2:12
“Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk- not as unwise people but as wise.” Ephesians 5:15
Walking. It’s a big deal in the Bible. People like Enoch, Noah, Abraham and Issac walked with the Lord. And of course the disciples walked with Jesus. The heavy part- I am called to do the same.
Not only that, but to walk in a manner WORTHY of Him. Big call.
I was wrestling with the truth of this, examining how I am walking, areas in my life that need to change. Good things. True things. Necessary things.
And I was encouraged that I am not walking alone. These men and women walked with the Lord. A relationship existed. That is beautiful.
My joy was found not only in that truth, but also in these words by the lovely Beth Moore:
Come walk with Me. Even with a limp. That’s what Jacob did (Gen 32:31). Even in the fire. That’s what Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego did (Dan. 3:25). Even when we feel like all hope is gone and no one came through. That’s what the two on the road to Emmaus did (Luke 24:15). Come walk with Me, whatever shape you’re in, no matter how wounded or bruised. Just bring Me your whole heart- even in ten thousand shards- let’s walk the rest of this thing out together (2 Chron. 6:14).
There is such encouragement and hope in these statements. Yes, I need to walk worthy, but I do not do it alone.
Wherever you are right now, I encourage you to take the next step- no matter how scary it is or how broken you are. Let’s walk with Him together.
